Naracoorte Gymnastics Club is a non-profit organisation which was revived in 2016 after a seven-year break.
Dally Victor and her daughter travelled weekly to gymnastics in Mount Gambier until Dally decided to get the Naracoorte club up and running again.
Now, the club is in need of new blood, with current officials moving on as their children outgrow the club.
Importantly in order for the club to run effectively and reliably, the club needs new coaches. To be a coach, you need to be able to follow a program, work as a team, have a DCSI Screening to work with children (club will assist), a great attitude encouraging children to do their best, be cautious of OHS concerns while controlling a group of 10 children.
For more information on training to be a coach, visit http://gymsa.com.au. All costs are covered by the club.
Interested gymnasts are primary school aged children. The idea of the club is recreational to build core strength and fitness which benefits children’s mental and physical well-being.
The club provides two sessions on Monday nights – juniors 5.30 -6.30pm and intermediates 6.45-7.45pm.
The interest among children has been so great; the club has a waiting list. The ratio of the training groups is 10:1, with groups having 30 gymnasts per session with three coaches.
NGC is run by voluntary committee members and coaches who have dedicated time and effort creating a well-established club.
The committee is exceptionally well organised and the enthusiasm with fundraising efforts has been huge with over $5000 raised running raffles, stalls and catering for events and functions.
The club has received $1500 in grants, all of the money going towards coaching and equipment.
For the club to continue, it’s important that the AGM is supported at 7pm Monday September 3 at Naracoorte High School in B1.
All committee and coaching positions are open; ideally finding more passionate committed coaches would see the club running well for all involved.
Please come along and help the club to grow and develop and continue running at a great standard. For more information, contact NGC on 0473 252 685 or email firstname.lastname@example.org .
