The Naracoorte Jets travelled over to Warrnambool for the first game of the rugby league season last Saturday.
The Jets have been training hard and looking forward to starting the new Limestone Coast Rugby League season after winning last year’s grand final by two points.
This year’s competition features the Horsham Panthers, the Mount Gambier Knights, the Warrnambool Raiders plus the newest addition, the Gunditjmara Bulls, who are also based out of Warrnambool.
The first round was against the Warrnambool Raiders, and while the Jets had the lead in the first half, the Raiders came back strong in the second half.
With both teams giving their all the Raiders took the win with a final score of 20 to 32.
In the other game on the day, the Knights defeated the Panthers 30-12 in a convincing result.
This Saturday the Jets will play in Nangwarry against the Horsham Panthers at 1.30pm, with the Bulls playing the Knights in the later game.
The Naracoorte Jets will host their first home game on October 27.
