Popular Naracoorte identity Brendan FitzGerald was the lucky winner of the recent annual Lions Club of Naracoorte Christmas stocking raffle.
Brendan’s winning ticket was drawn by Kylie Catton of Toyworld in front of a large and hopeful crowd on December 21.
Almost 9500 tickets were sold by representatives from 17 local charities and clubs.
Lions club president Malcolm McEachern explained: “Each of those clubs which assisted with ticket sales will receive funds commensurate with the volume of tickets they managed to sell.”
He added that the ever popular stocking raffle was one of the Lions club’s major events.
“It’s success depends on the exceptional generosity of the local business houses to ensure that the stocking is filled with enticing prizes,” he said. “We are indeed fortunate to live in a town which is so supportive of community projects such as this.”
There were 12 prize draws in the raffle with the runner-up Leanne Dolling receiving a wheelbarrow, also filled to capacity with Christmas treats.
Any charity or relevant group interested in registering to sell tickets in the 2019 raffle should register their interest with the Lions club as soon as possible.
