After a fire which saw its clubrooms burnt to the ground, the Senior Coach of the Nangwarry Football Club, David Stratman, is grateful for the community support, and determined to keep the club moving forward.
“It’s a terrible thing that’s happened, but we just have to deal with it and put it behind us,” said Mr Stratman.
“But I do understand that a lot of people are upset.”
As the club still has changerooms, pre-season training will still go ahead, and Mr Stratman confirmed that the team had been working hard in the off-season to turn around their recent fortunes on the field.
“We’re hoping to make it a great season,” said Mr Stratman.
“The committee will be looking at our future options. We’ve had a lot of support in the community, which has just been fantastic to see.”
The committee is currently trying to find a suitable alternative for club and community social activities, as the club used to be a meeting place on Fridays and Saturdays.
