Popular and colourful former AFL star Dane Swan will be the star at a sportsman’s night at Naracoorte Football Club on February 21.
Swan played 258 games for Collingwood and after collecting an impressive array of accolades, is regarded as one of the greatest midfielders in the modern era.
He won the Brownlow Medal in 2011, is a premiership player, won three Copeland Trophies for Collingwood best and fairest, and was an All-Australian five times.
Sadly, in round 1 of the 2016 season he fell awkwardly and badly injured a foot, and he didn’t play another AFL game, retiring later that season.
Since his retirement, he has continued to make headlines through various brushes with the law and friendships with the likes of controversial AFL “bad boy” Dustin Martin.
Swan has maintained a high media profile including an appearance in the 2017 reality TV series “I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!”, for which he finished runner-up.
The footy club is promising a great night out on the 21st.
Swan will be speaking after the completion of the Demons’ usual Thursday night senior football training.
Meals will be available beforehand and everyone is welcome to come along, have a drink and a meal and watch the senior squad train.
Tickets are $30 per person and can be pre-bought at Ormerod Pics and Pieces or by contacting club president David Collins 0438 856 189.
Naracoorte is due to start the KNTFL season with a trip to face the reigning A grade premiers Mundulla in round 1 on April 6.
