Kyby Tigers women win again

Kyby headed to Millicent to take on the home side in the top of the table clash in round 5 of the LCWFL on Monday.

The game lived up to expectations and in what was a hard-fought match, Kyby ran out 11-point winners.

From the first bounce it was obvious that Millicent had hard footy on their minds and after a free kick and 50m, they quickly had the first goal. This rattled the Kyby girls, and Millicent upped the ante, applying pressure at the body and around the stoppages.

Kyby's backline was under real pressure for the first time in a couple of weeks, but Della Hannaford took a mark directly in front and kicked truly. Millicent kicked another goal and after a tight 1st quarter there was only 7 points in it.

The 2nd quarter was much the same, Kyby this time kicking with the breeze, but just couldn’t break through Millicent’s defence, and at half time Millicent were still in the lead.

In the 3rd it was all clashing bodies. Tackling and bumping was a highlight and some great contested pack marks were a feature of the quarter. A mark to Tyler Atkinson and 50m penalty gave Kyby a set shot from the square and seem to spark the girls up.

The final quarter was make or break and Millicent hammered the goals but were unable to convert. Kyby controlled the ball in their forward line for the rest of the quarter and a late goal to Sellars saw the door shut.

Final scores Kyby 4.5 (29) defeated Millicent 2.6 (18).
