The Naracoorte Scout group has received a $5000 grant through the Office of Recreation and Sport to buy a range of new tents for camping activities.
Member for MacKillop Nick McBride met with representatives from Naracoorte Scouts and presented a certificate acknowledging the grant, which was awarded as part of round 46 of the Active Club Program.
The Naracoorte Scouts have a membership of nearly 40 girls and boys, which is made up of 'Joeys', 'Cubs' and 'Seniors'.
Mr McBride said the Scouts program was a great outlet for kids to get together and participate in fun activities.
"Scouts SA offers fantastic opportunities for young people," he said. "It helps build resilience and confidence and provides challenges that encourage problem solving, which helps them learn life skills.
"It is great that the state government can offer grants that can help these organisations expand the activities they can offer."
Naracoorte Scouts also has plans to upgrade their building through the installation of a new toilet block and shower facility. The upgrade will allow the Scouts to host more events and make it easier to run Scout activities on the site.
