Army cadets hold camp at Naracoorte

Cadet units from the Riverland, Murray Bridge, Adelaide Hills, Fleurieu Peninsula and Mount Gambier took part in a training bivouac weekend over three days near Naracoorte.

The group was hosted at the Black Cockatoo Bush Camp by Ken and Liz Yelland.

There was an opportunity on the Saturday for parents and children aged 13-16 to visit and see cadet activities.

The Australian Army Cadets are endeavouring to establish a local cadet unit in Naracoorte in the near future.

The SA Cadet Brigade Commander, Col Simon Ridgeway visited the camp and was impressed with the bush and field craft training.

He addressed the parents and children visiting and hoped many young people would consider joining the army cadets to take advantage of the benefits available including possibly achieving up to 60 SACE points.

He also asked that people consider being volunteers in supporting the unit.
