Kingston triathlon tradition ends

The Kingston SE Triathlon Committee has decided the 2019 triathlon event would be the final one for the foreseeable future, in the absence of an event manager.

The event has provided 31 years of exciting competition with thousands of participants swimming, cycling and running their way through a variety of course lengths.

Many people from the Naracoorte, Lucindale and Tatiara areas travelled to the coast each year to take part, and Naracoorte Toyota has been a major sponsor in recent years.

Over the years, the committee has been led by Brett Williams, Steve Emery, Craig Lawrie, Jason Rothall, Kerran Wingard, Roger Harrington, Patrick Doyle and Alison Stillwell.

They have all stamped the event with their own style and helped it to develop into a major Triathlon SA feature event.

The organising committee has also paid tribute to the exceptional contributions of private individuals, businesses and local councils, who have guaranteed the event's success over three decades.

However, without an event manager, running the triathlon for a 32nd year was not possible.

The committee sincerely thank all those who have been involved in any way with the Kingston SE Triathlon since 1988. It has been a wonderful community event.
