Personal stories of drug addiction and journeys to recovery will be part of the Penola Wellness Group's next information evening on August 7.
The session, titled 'Grief, Loss and Triumph', will feature three diverse speakers on the topic of addiction.
Tim Brennan will speak on the night about his work with 'Life Without Barriers', an organisation that provides a range of services to help people with issues including mental health and addiction.
Two more speakers will each talk about their own personal experiences with addiction.
"Fiona Ralton is a Penola local who will be telling personal stories of her history with addiction and recovery," Ms Cahir said.
"She has a published book about her stories called WTF is Spanish Anyway?!"
Another speaker, Karen Judd, lost her son through drug addiction in 2010 and later used her tragic experience to help other families cope with drug abuse by starting a support group.
On Ms Cahir said the group of volunteers that runs Penola Wellness Group would like to help get information out about how people are affected and the resources they can tap into.
"It is something that effects anybody, anywhere and anytime so who ever wants to come along and get that information is welcome," she said.
The group has previously run sessions on foster care, breast cancer, diabetes, leukaemia and resilience.
The 'Grief, Loss and Triumph' evening will be held at the Penola Sports Club at 6.30pm on August 7. Entry fee of $10 will assist with catering.
