Road toll rises after accident

The state's road toll has risen to 65 following the death of an elderly man involved in a crash near Naracoorte early this month.

Just before 3pm on Wednesday July 3, a Toyota Landcruiser travelling on Pondham Road at Hynam left the road and hit a tree about 15km east of Naracoorte.

The driver and only occupant in the vehicle, an 86-year-old man from Naracoorte, was admitted taken to the Naracoorte Hospital, but sadly his condition deteriorated and he died on Sunday.

The state's road toll was 42 at the same time last year.
