When Natasha Dawson first moved to Naracoorte she looked for walking or hiking groups as a way to connect with new people and nature.
Now, 15 years later, she has taken it upon herself to start a hiking group of her own.
Ms Dawson is inviting people to hit the trail alongside her and enjoy the many benefits that being in nature brings.
"Time in nature is instrumental for my health and wellbeing, it always has been," Ms Dawson said.
"There can be many benefits from being in nature like restoration of mental energy, stress relief, boosted immune system, reduced inflammation and better sleep, just to name a few."
"We all know walking and movement is good for us but the added benefits of doing it in nature enhances our overall wellbeing."
The group is designed to be tailored to local women who may face a few barriers to doing so by themselves in parks.
"This year I am trialling some one hour walks in nature on a Friday, its a great way to exercise, before you know it the hour is up and you've walked 5kms, soaked in some vitamin D & N (for nature) and met some new people," she explained.
"I'm also keen to hear from people that are interested but cant make Fridays.
"I walk in all weather except extreme conditions and invite all to unplug and switch off there phones to give their body and mind a break from technology whilst on the trail."
Next walk is Friday August 9 at 10am to 11am at the Cave Range Walking Trail.
