Year 6 students from Frances Primary School travelled to Mount Gambier to participate in the Eisteddfod in Debating last week.
This was a first time experience for the team who won their debate, "that the country is better than the city".
They argued that the lifestyle, strong sense of community, feeling safe and the natural environment combined to make the country far better than the city.
The team comprising Zahli Williams, George Koch and Ada Hoctor were greeted by the whole school clapping and cheering for them as they proudly walked back into the playground at the end of their eventful day.
Ada was awarded the best speaker of the debate.
Harvey Koch chaired the debate between St Martin's and St Anthony's and George Koch was a most effective time keeper.
"I am bursting with pride for our students who have learnt so much about being part of a team while developing their academic skills," said Frances principal Joyce Dinan.
"After this first debating experience, the students have big plans for next year."
