Padthaway CFS has gratefully received a generous donation from Sunrise Christian School Naracoorte student James Mackereth.

James, currently in Year 7, presented a $100 cheque to the group after raising money through his school's 'Stewardship' program.

The program challenges students to grow a business of their choice, starting with only $20. Weekly lunchtime markets give the students an opportunity to test out their individual business models.

Selling mostly home-baked goods, James raised over $250 and generously opted to donate far more than the the school's mandated 10 per cent to a worthy cause.

James's mum Elaine Mackereth said James decided to donate to the CFS because he felt they are an important part of the community.

"We live on a rural property near Padthaway so we rely on the CFS a lot as farmers and the wider community whether it's a fire or an accident or whatever," Mrs Mackereth said.
