Amazing Saturday winds up with donation

Organisers have made the heart-wrenching decision to wind up the highly successful long-running Amazing Saturday event.

Evolving from the previous South East Kids Camp Out, the event has remained popular but a lack of people to fill key leadership roles has led to the tough decision to call time.

Some of the key people from previous years have left Naracoorte, with others retiring. The committee spent the last 12 months trying to attract some younger Christians to take on this ministry, but it now seems clear that the season for running this event has come to an end.

South East Kids Camp Out and Amazing Saturday have run successfully for over 35 years, with thousands of young people having treasured memories of these fantastic events.

All of them heard how much God loves them, through stories about Jesus.

Many children returned year after year, until they reached the end of primary school.

These events were possible due to the wonderful support from many churches in Naracoorte and the district, as well as schools, service clubs, businesses, and the Naracoorte Lucindale Council.

The organisers said it was impossible to acknowledge everyone who has contributed over the years, with so many being generous with their time and talents.

From the remaining funds, a donation of $1000 has been given to the Interchurch Council, specifically for Christian presentations in local schools.

The balance will be used for children's ministry in the Naracoorte Uniting Church, which runs a children's program on Sunday mornings. There are plans to further develop this ministry for youth.
