Three adventurous Naracoorte women are trekking 100km to raise funds for vital breast cancer research.
Naracoorte residents Justine Drew, Annette Koennecke and Ann Aldersey are participating in next year's National Breast Cancer Foundation Tuscany Trekking Challenge.
They plan to walk 100km over a week in June 2020 to raise funds to improve how breast cancer is diagnosed, managed and treated.
Ann was diagnosed with breast cancer in August 2018, and has undergone more than 12 months of intense treatment.
With her son just eight months old at the time, the diagnosis came as a terrible shock, and kick-started a busy life of travel, medical appointments and hospital stays.
"Now that my treatment has ended, I need a focus for my recovery. I want to raise funds so that women diagnosed with breast cancer can receive the world's best treatment," Ann said.
Justine's family has also been devastated by breast cancer, and she wants to honour her late mother as well as support friends who are battling the disease.
The women will be organising several fundraising events, starting with a mammoth garage sale in this weekend's Garage Sale Trail.
The garage sale will be held in the big shed on Caves Road next to the Sunrise Christian School on Saturday and Sunday.
Everything from clothes, jewellery, kitchen and household goods, outdoor furniture, sporting and camping equipment, a turntable and vinyl record collection, baby and children's items, a trailer of firewood, as well as an array of baked goods will be for sale.
Funds raised from the sale will go directly to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

A range of other fundraising events will be held between now and April next year, including a Bootcamp for Breast Cancer Research on Saturday November 16 at 8.30am at the Naracoorte football oval.
More details can be found at Naracoorte Health and Fitness Centre's Facebook page for more details.
Annette is hoping that by offering a range of fundraising opportunities, there will be something which suits everyone.
"We've been overwhelmed by the generosity of people already donating to our fundraising page," she said.
"We're hoping to provide lots of ways that people can help with our fundraising and have some fun at the same time."
Further information on the team's fundraising can be found by contacting Ann Aldersey on 0428 854 825 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
