Kim Lang's departure from the Naracoorte Smallbore and Air Rifle Club has been honoured with a certificate of appreciation; recognising his efforts over the years.

Since joining the rifle club in 2008, Kim has been heavily involved and has served as president and club coach.

In that time the club has undergone a series of upgrades including the laser levelling of the shooting range, an upgrade to the kitchen and the installation of a new defibrillator.

After announcing a move to Strathalbyn to be closer to family, Kim said he was "honoured" by the club's response.

"Within the Naracoorte Club they done me up a little certificate of appreciation for the effort that I had put in over the years," he explained.

"I didn't think I had put in any more effort than anyone else but I'll take that. It was fantastic."

Kim said the club was comprised of a "great little community"

"It's probably one of the best clubs I've ever been involved with ... It's probably the easiest flowing and happiest bunch of people - the whole small bore and shooting community," Kim said.

"They are a great bunch of people to be around."

The sport of shooting, Kim joked, was at times a much less smooth affair.

"We've been known to call it 'golf laying down' because if you do the slightest thing wrong you get punished," he said.

"It's very much a mental game, because you're laying (down) so still there's lots of things that you can do to improve your score."

Kim was presented the certificate of appreciation at the 2019 Naracoorte Smallbore & Air Rifle Club's Open Prize Shoot in September.

Kim said the prize shoot was a fantastic weekend which saw a number of competitors notch up perfect scores.
