Kybybolite WFC women's footballers ready to go

The LCWFL women's footy season will kick off with a grand final rematch at Naracoorte on Friday night, November 15.

The reigning premiers Mundulla will do battle with fellow grand finalist Kybybolite in the feature match of the night at 7.30pm. Penola will play Kalangadoo at 6.15pm in a lead-up game.

The Kyby girls have again had a solid pre-season and capped it off with a visit to training this week by Adelaide Crows AFLW player Courtney Cramey.

Cramey, an all-Australian and premiership player, oversaw a group of about 25 players at training before sitting down for a Q&A session afterwards where she shared tips and stories about her women's football journey.

Kyby WFC coach Luke Crossling said his side was shaping up well as they looked to build on their results of finishing second last season and winning the premiership in their debut season in 2018.

The team has lost 4-5 players including reigning best and fairest Casey McElroy, who is currently playing women's football in Darwin.

But it has gained a number of players including former premiership players Hayley Smart and Dellie Brown, as well as 2019 KNTNA netball best and fairest Holly Hannaford and young gun Mykaela Walker.

"We've also got the main core who have been there the whole way through, and while there's some big outs, some of the ins are big, too," Crossling said. "The girls are all really enjoying it, there's a good vibe out there."

Crossling said the standard of the league was getting better all the time and he was confident Kyby would be able to match the improvement of the other sides.

"One of the things is how much better the skills are, the majority are playing their third season and some of the skills are on song," he said.

"The kicking's better, and we'll be fit again, that's for sure."

Kyby will start the season with a series of local games. After round 1 in Naracoorte, the Tigers will play at home on Friday November 22, then play at Naracoorte again on Friday November 29.
