Mickey's Disco played it one more time

It was the end of an era when the popular Mickey's Disco had one last big night out last month.

The Naracoorte-based Friends With Benefits group is winding up, and managed to raise an impressive $10,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in Adelaide at their last function.

"It was a great night as always," said one of the organisers, Robyn Norman.

The crowd of over 100 people gave generous support for the cause and had an enjoyable time doing it. A special highlight was the attendance of local CF sufferer Jorja Crane who was the inspiration for directing the funds to the CF foundation.

Started by a group of Naracoorte locals back in 2011, Friends With Benefits has held a Mickey's Disco event as a major fundraiser each year.

In that time, they have raised a phenomenal tally of more than $100,000 to help people in need.

They have helped people out by paying for everything from food and fuel vouchers, student scholarships, household bills, medical expenses, mortgage payments, council rates and even funerals.

The highly successful art club run by Karen is also winding up along with the FWB group.

Karen has been able to raise more than $10,000 a year in the last four years through the regular art classes at the Naracoorte Art Gallery, and while it is still going strong, she has decided to focus on other priorities.

The group will have a final exhibition at the art gallery, from 5.30-7.30pm on Friday November 15.
