Par three golf a hit at Naracoorte

Naracoorte Golf Club hosted the inaugural SE 18-hole par 3 competition sponsored by Steeline on Sunday.

The event was the brainchild of president Melville Proud who continues to do amazing work to raise the profile of the club.

All players enjoyed the day and hope it will be even better next year.

In the ladies event the stroke championship was won by Heather Bourne from Di McCully and the handicap championship by Jan O'Shaughnessy from Felicity Miles.

James Norcock was the best of the men with 53 strokes ahead of Tim Shortt 58, and the handicap went to Terry Paech 44.25 net from David Miles 49.75.

A team of ladies led by Sandra Munn provided a lunch of Thai chicken salad and afternoon tea.

At the usual ladies golf day last Wednesday, Pam Hood continued her amazing run, winning the summer stableford with 40 points.

Peg Walker was runner-up on 35 points on a count back from Jill Steen.

Sars Crawford was nearest the pin winners on the 7th and 16th respectively. Sue Norcock played well on her return to golf.

The course played easy with half of the field scoring 30 or more stableford points.

On Saturday, O'Shaughnessy led the field of 11 ladies with 36 points from Di McCully on a count back from Trish Brooker both on 33 points.

Elaine Zerk was NTP on the 7th.
