Being continually informed during bushfire conditions will be much easier for South Australians with the new Alert SA app which was launched this week.
The smartphone app, which includes information from the Country Fire Service and Metropolitan Fire Service, will report relevant bushfire information to users who download the program.
State Minister for Emergency Services Corey Wingard said the app underwent extensive testing to ensure it was reliable.
"A lot of hard work has gone into ensuring South Australia has an app that works and will withstand high demand when it is needed most," Mr Wingard said.
"With a run of hot days on the horizon it is reassuring to know there is another tool in the toolbox when it comes to keeping informed about bushfire risks.
"But it is important to never rely on just one source of information. Other channels should be used including the CFS website, social media, radio and talking to friends and family."
The Alert SA app will continue to undergo additions to give information on other hazards such as floods and storms.
South Australians can download the Alert SA app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.
