There's a strong chance a host of women across the Limestone Coast are working hard behind the scenes to make a significant contribution to their communities.

In an effort to recognise their outstanding contributions, nominations are urged for the newly named Inspired South Australian Women's Award.

Previously known as Women Hold Up Half the Sky Award, the initiative acknowledges the impressive contributions of women in the community.

SA Stuart MP Dan van Holst Pellekaan, who promotes the award across the state, says many dedicated and capable women across the state would be worthy nominees.

"It would be wonderful to have another woman from our electorate receive an award and I would strongly encourage people to consider nominating someone you know makes an important contribution to their community."

The award is provided by Human Services Minister Michelle Lensink, who is responsible for the Status of Women portfolio.

Award categories are:

  • Inspiring SA Women's Award
