Naracoorte Little Athletics has started up for it's 2020/2021 season.
Dozens of kids ran, jumped and threw at the second meet of the season on Sunday.
Little Athletics is a fun way to get kids involved in athletics and is open to all children aged three to 17 and to all skill levels.
Some of the events they compete in are hurdles, shotput, 70 metres, 200 metres, long jump, triple jump, high jump and 700 metres.
Unlike other sports, the focus of Little Athletics is not on competing with the other children, it's about competing with themselves and improving.
Participants work to beat their personal bests and improve on their own score, and they get points according to their own personal results.
For young athletes that do want to compete, there are regular meets and competitions around the state, for those that perform well in the local meets.
Naracoorte Little Athletics is certainly no stranger to having their members competing on a national level, with Olympic runner Jess Trengove getting her start in Naracoorte Little Athletics many years ago.
The club offers a two week come and try for free for any children who want to see if the sport is for them before signing up.
Naracoorte Little Athletics holds meets on Friday afternoons and some Sunday mornings at Naracoorte High School.
