Murray Bridge United hosted the inaugural Rural City of Murray Bridge Cup last weekend.
The preseason competition, which was played from February 26-28, saw Murray Bridge United, Renmark Olympic, Southern Breakers and Naracoorte United compete against each other.
Each team played each other once, before a finals series took place on Sunday.
On Friday night, United kicked-off the tournament against the Southern Breakers, with the tight tussle resulting in a 1-1 draw.
The Murray Bridge-based side responded well during Saturday's fixtures, starting off with a comprehensive 4-2 win against Renmark Olympic.
After a six-hour break, United returned to the pitch to face Naracoorte United.
Despite not winning a game, Naracoorte pushed the home side throughout the entire game, but the strong Murray Bridge side stepped up when they needed to.
A poorly directed pass in defence proved to be the only difference between the two sides, with the pass resulting in a goal.
With two wins and one draw, Murray Bridge United booked themselves a place in the preseason cup final against Renmark Olympic on Sunday.
Despite going into the game as favourites, Olympic managed to score an early second-half goal to shock the hosts, securing a 1-0 win.
The tournament received rave reviews from all participating teams, with many teams interested in competing again next year.
Naracoorte United senior coach Daniel Sribar said the club is interested in hosting the preseason cup in 2022.
