IBIS Rising Art Exhibition
See some of the amazing works that were entered into the 2021 IBIS Rising Art competition at the Naracoorte Art Gallery this month. With many different categories of work, enjoy a range of works done by the talented people in our local community.

The Penola Women Project
To learn more about some of the pioneering women of Penola, visit The Penola Women Project, by the Penola Terra Rossa Branch of the CWA, which will be open at John Riddoch Centre, 27 Arthur St, Penola every day in May 10am-4pm. The group has put together the exhibit to portray some of the women who came to the region for love, work or grew, as part of a family, to weave a rich tapestry of individuals striving to enrich the lives of all. To date, the exhibition encompasses eight women in each category: 'They Came for Love', 'They Came for Work' and 'Mothers and Daughters'

2021 Penola Coonawarra Arts Festival
The Penola Coonawarra Arts Festival will be held over three days in May, with the announcement of the 2021 John Shaw Neilson Art prize and 2021 Design prize winners marking the official opening of the Festival on Friday 14 May at the Penola High School. The exhibition will be on display for a week following the Festival. In 2022, the Penola Coonawarra Arts Festival will celebrate its thirtieth year, coinciding with the 150th anniversary of John Shaw Neilson's birth.

Naracoorte Cemetery guided tour
Take a guided tour of the Naracoorte Cemetery, including the original section which was opened in 1864 and discover stories of early pioneers and learn about the headstones and history of the cemetery. To be held 1.30-3.30pm. FULLY BOOKED - A second tour may be offered on Saturday 22nd May at 1.30-3.30pm if there's enough interest. To book for the second tour, phone the library on 8762 2338.

The Joanna Hall committee will be holding their annual Bogan Bingo, so dust off ya mullets, flannies and tattoos and get along to a full on, entertaining night of Bingo...with a difference!! A guided tour of the Frances Cemetery will be held on Sunday May 23 1.30-3.30pm. Learn some more about the headstones and the history of the cemetery. Bookings are essential by phoning the library.
