Blockbuster KNTFL weekend with tight finishing games

This was the showcase game of the weekend, despite there being other really close results on the weekend.

It was a blistering first half between both Lucindale and Mundulla as they piled on 16 goals between the two clubs.

The fans would have been loving the goal fest. Mundulla led by 12-points at the long break.

Lucindale took over the scoring in the second half and despite kicking 2-11 for the half, they held Mundulla to just 1-2 and that enabled the Roos to fall over the line by three points and push 10-points clear on top of the ladder.

Josh Trembath and Sam Williams led the goal kicking for the Roos with two each. Hamish Gordon, Lachie Jones and Henry Tregoweth were important players in the victory.

James Hinge kicked five goals and was helped out by Jake McGrice in front of goal as he added three as the Tigers fell short of the Roos. Jake McGrice, Tom Gaden and Darcy King were Mundulla's best players.

Naracoorte held on by seven points against a fighting Border Districts to push a game clear of the chasing pack in fifth position on the ladder.

The Demons led by three goals at half time and were able to get across the line as the Eagles couldn't convert their chances in the second half.

Borders kicked 4-6 to 3-1 in the second half and would be disappointed that they could not convert in front of goal better.

Aaron Slorach and Rory Taggert created a goal kicking duo to get the Demons across the Line. Aaron kicked five and Rory kicked three as they combined for eight of the Demons ten goals.

Jamie Bettoncelli, Keenan Jacobs and Sam Thomson were Naracoorte's best players.

Mark Quinn and Nick Schild kicked two goals each for the Eagles as they tried to get their team the win. Mark Quinn, James Baron and Jack Helyar were the Eagles best players.

Kybybolite won their second match in their past three games to pull to within a game of the top five after they won on the road against the slumping Bordertown.

The Tigers got the jump on the Roosters in the first quarter, before the Roosters fought back in the second to be only 10-points behind at the long break.

The Tigers were able to get a three-goal lead in the third quarter and hold it until the final siren went.

Stephen Craig was outstanding with six goals for the Tigers. Tyler Harris kicked three as well as the Tigers came away with the win.

Tom Kitschke, Jack McKay and Stephen Craig were the Tigers best players.

Nick Dahlitz and Thomas Whittlesea led Bordertown's goal kickers with two goals each.

Harrison Fromm, Cameron Graetz Nick Dahlitz were the Roosters best players.

A slow start and bad kicking at goal cost Kingston from having a bigger win against a plucky fighting Penola team on the weekend.

The Saints kicked 0-8 in the first quarter as the home side kicked 3-2 and the Eagles held a 12-point lead at quarter time.

Kingston then took control of the game as they kicked 15-16 to 3-4 in the last three quarters to record the win and stay one win above fifth place.

Todd Lockwood kicked four goals and James Siviour kicked three goals as they led the Saints charge in front of goal.

Jake Wehl, William Watts and Henry Lawrie were the Saints best players.

The Eagles found it hard to find a dominating scoring force as all seven goals were single goal kickers. Bradley Merrett, Zac Deane and Bradley Bryant were Penola's better players.

Keith won their fourth game in a row to stay in the top three as they easily took care of Padthaway by 76-points.

Daniel Bibby was strong for the Crows in front of goal with five goals.

George Johnson and Billy Wade helped the Crows get the win with three goals each. Daniel Bibby, Ryan Bartlett and Seb Schreiber were the Crows best players.

Will Rivers was the only Lions player who could get multiples as he kicked two goals. Nathan McCarthy, Thomas Edwards and Will Rivers were Padthaway's best players.

Round nine provides some interesting season defining games.

Padthaway host Bordertown in what is shaping up as a season defining game for both.

Bordertown started the season with so much promise when they beat Kingston and had a draw against Mundulla, but since then their form has dropped away as they have lost their last four games.

The Lions on the other hand have shown if they have their best team on the park, they can mix it with the better teams like Mundulla who they beat.

This game is very hard to pick, i think you have to go for the Lions because it is at home, but wouldn't surprise if the Roosters get up.

Kingston host Keith in the battle for third and a game clear of fourth.

The Saints have been doing enough to get wins against teams below them to keep them right in the finals mix.

The Crows have turned their season around and are looking at playing finals again this year. Kingston have had this game pencilled in since the fixture came out as they will look to get a little bit of revenge on the Crows who knocked them out in the finals in dramatic fashion.

The Saints will be without gun forward James Siviour who injured a hamstring against Penola and that will hurt the goal kicking options for the Saints.

The Crows will start favourite because of this, but Kingston are on their home ground and will be ready to put up a huge fight.

Mundulla will be looking to bounce back against Penola this week at home.

The Tigers had a big tight classic game against the Roos and will be looking to get back on track with a solid win after losing to the Roos.

Against a young Eagles team that will put up a big fight for the first half, before the Tigers experience takes over in the second half.

Kybybolite host Border Districts in what now becomes a very important game for both teams.

Both are just four points out of the top five and a loss here for either would really hurt or almost kill their teams' finals chances.

The Tigers have been playing good football lately as they quietly started to get back in to finals calculations.

The Eagles on the other hand have been ultra-competitive this year as they grow together and look to climb the ladder.

This is a very hard game to pick the winner in. I'm sure it will be a cracking game.

Naracoorte host the undefeated Lucindale in what arguably could be seen as match of the round between the two rivals.

The Demons are getting things together after a shaky start to the season and Lucindale haven't put a foot wrong.

The Demons will like their chances if they have a full team and it is on their home ground.

Lucindale will start as favourite because they haven't lost a game, but don't be surprised if the Demons pull off an upset against the Roos.
