
Penola led early, but after three very even quarters Mundulla lifted in the last term to win by 34 points.
The Eagles goaled first when Wenham passed accurately to Kaleb Messenger who kicked truly from just inside 50 metres, and the Tigers replied when Dylan Mosey and Guy combined to drive the ball to Hinge who made no mistake. Penola's Scott Merrett, Bryant, Bunnik and Egan were effective, and Gerard Merrett and Will Clayfield worked the ball to K Messenger who goaled again, but the Moots' Lowe and Hamish Young forced the ball to King who took a strong mark and kicked truly, and at quarter-time the scores were 2-2-14 each.

Mundulla kept the Eagles scoreless in the second term but it was a very tight tussle with Penola's Pfitzner and Brad Merrett working overtime in defence and the only goal came when Ballinger, Gaden and King drove the ball forward where Redden snapped accurately. Although the Tigers kept attacking with Nick Mosey, D Mosey, Redden, Ridgway and Hollams featuring they only managed minor scores and at half-time led 3-8-26 to 2-2-14.
The Moots started the third quarter fast when N Mosey drove the ball forward where McGrice and Noll worked the ball to Nankivell who sped in and kicked truly, then Guy, McGrice and Noll again worked the ball to Nankivell who goaled again. Penola dominated the scoring for the rest of the term with S Merrett, Bryant, Egan and Bunnik prominent, starting when Drew Clayfield marked beside the north-eastern light tower and made no mistake from a tight angle. After ten minutes of to-and-fro play Pfitzner passed to D Clayfield who kicked truly again from a tight angle. Mundulla's Duell in his 150th senior game for Mundulla unfortunately hobbled off injured before the Eagles' Walker marked and goaled from a 45-degree angle and at the last break Penola had reduced the Tigers' lead to 5 points - 5-10-40 to 5-5-35.
The Moots lifted in the last quarter, starting when Packer passed to McGrice who took a contested mark close to goal and made no mistake, then D Mosey, Hollams and N Mosey drove the ball forward where Hinge took a strong mark in the goalsquare and kicked truly. N Mosey and Noll then worked the ball forward where Kuchel took a fine mark and goaled. The Eagles were still contesting hard and B Merrett ran the ball into attack where Bryant made no mistake, before King booted the ball forward for Mundulla where Kuchel grabbed it and snapped truly. Redden and Ridgway were everywhere, and Marcus Young drove the ball into attack where Nankivell outpaced the other players in pursuit and goaled on the run, and at the final siren the Tigers won 10-16-76 to 6-6-42.
